Beauty and Faithfulness

Homer is a blind man but his blindness did not hinder him to wrote the
two great and beautiful epics of Greek history

·       The Iliad (the tale of Achilles and the Trojan War

·       The Odyssey (about the travels of Odysseus).

Both books are considered landmarks in human literature and Homer is therefore often cited as the starting point of Western literary and historical tradition.

In the Epic of The Iliad, Helen is one of the character has an extraordinary beauty was said to have launched the Greek fleet of a thousand ships to Troy.

While in the Epic of Odyssey, Penelope is a serious and industrious character, a devoted and faithful wife to his husband
and child.

As I begin Helen is the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta. When Paris and Helen met they fell in love with each other, then they eloped. So she became Helen of Troy. The characteristic of Helen is she has a childish attitude. In her decision she did not think wisely instead she use her emotions. In the end of the story Helen became loyal to his husband King Menelaus.

Penelope is married to Odysseus. And Odysseus left her for a mission. She waited 20 years for her husband to come back. On the other hand, there is no assurance that her husband will come back still she’s waiting to return. Even though she has plenty of suitors she’s still hoping and waiting for her husband to come home. She is very Loyal, Faithful and Devoted Wife and mother to her child. She raised her child by her own. She is a positive thinker that one day there family will be together.

If I were to choose between Helen and Penelope I will prefer to choose Penelope because I admired her characteristics. First of all she gave importance to their vows. Because for her MARRIED IS SACRED. Her Loyalty and Faithfulness is a very good quality of a woman who is married especially when your husband is working abroad. She endured all hardship, loneliness, trials and problems that she encountered while waiting for king Odysseus. She and her husband will meet again. In Proverbs 31:10 it says; “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies”.
